Johnnie Walker in collaboration with Trace Africa presents the #KeepWalking Africa Top 30: 2023! This year, we’re going big and bold as we take strides to honor cultural shapeshifters from Kinshasa + Maputo to Addis + Cameroon.

What the policy covers

  1. Important Notice
    • These terms and conditions contain certain terms and conditions which (i) may limit the risk or liability of the promoters or a third party, (ii) may create risk or liability for you; and/or (iii) may compel you to indemnify Diageo PEM or a third party; and/or (iv) may be an acknowledgement of any fact by you.
    • You acknowledge that by submitting your entry to the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023, you have been given an appropriate opportunity to first read and understand these terms and conditions before entering the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign and you agree to them.
    • Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations created for either the entrant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("the CPA").
    • This Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign is organised by Diageo South Africa (Pty) Ltd (registration number: 1964/003344/07) (“Diageo PEM”) (“the promoters”).
    • The Johnnie Walker Keep Walking Africa Top 30 nomination campaign commences on 14 August 2023 and ends AT MIDNIGHT on 29 September 2023.
  2. You will only be eligible to enter this nomination Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign if:
    • you are a natural person over the legal alcohol purchasing age at of your region at the date of entry. You will be required to submit valid identification documentation in order to verify your age if you are selected;
    • you are a resident of any of the African countries;
    • you are not a director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant to Diageo PEM or participating promoters, or any marketing service provider in respect of the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the promoter/s or suppliers of goods or services in connection with this Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign, or the spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister, business partner or associate of such a person;
    • To enter this Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign, fully complete the nomination form. The purpose of the below selected criteria is to narrow down and identify individuals from our 30+ countries as well as neighboring states who have then taken the first Bold step in breaking new ground, disrupting the status quo & impacting culture with their first step on their journey. The corresponding brand themes are of Progress, Journey and a Keep walking narrative.
  3. The Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign criteria is as follows per category:
    MUSIC
    • Provide the title and link to a Single / EP / Album.
    • Provide Chart Statistics: Streaming numbers & Radio play.
    • Identify any features of significant artists on the project.
    • Have there been performances at International Festivals?
    FASHION
    • Provide the genre of your fashion line and link to view.
    • Has there been collaboration with any significant fashion designers?
    • Has there been participation in any International Fashion Weeks?
    • Provide Key celebrities dressed.
    MEDIA
    • Provide the title and link to the show /program.
    • Provide the Viewership or Listenership of the show.
    ART
    • Provide the title of the Exhibition and link to view.
    • Provide the number of art exhibitions in the last year.
    FILM
    • Provide the title and link to the project.
    • Provide the project Synopsis.
    • Identify Role/s in the project.
    • Provide any recent Awards or Accolades received.
    • Provide a list of Top on screen talent in the project.
  4. In order to establish trajectory on social media platforms; each nomination must include:
    • Links to Social Media pages;
    • Engagement Rates;
    • No. of verified accounts following;
    • Social Growth Rate;
    • Google Trends Analysis.
  5. Any significant shoutout from recognisable media platforms/organisation, or leader in the creative industry including performers, artists, designers, musicians etc must be included:
    • Provide 3 of the most recent links to media article/coverage;
    • Provide any Magazine Covers.
  6. Any costs or expenses incurred in respect of items not specifically included are for the selected candidates own account. Diageo PEM and its associates, if applicable, will not be responsible for any other expenses which the selected candidate may incur as a result of their acceptance of their candidacy, whether foreseen or not.
    • The selected candidate may not transfer and may not defer, change or exchange any winnings for cash or any other item. Diageo PEM reserves the right to alter the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign at any time.
    • There will be 3o selected candidates. The selected candidates will be done by Diageo PEM’s Agency the Top 30 will be notified via email/phone at any time up until 25 September 2023. If the selected candidate cannot be contacted by the next day, Diageo PEM will contact the runner- up.
    • The Top 30 candidates will be required to take part in publicity and participation in the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign and this is conditional on you agreeing to take part in such publicity. The selected candidates will not be entitled to any remuneration for taking part in such publicity. All and any materials, including publicity materials, are the sole property of Diageo PEM.
    • To the extent that any taxes, duties, levies or other charges may be levied on the selected candidate’s work by the government or any other competent government or regulatory body, the candidate will be liable therefore, and Diageo PEM will not compensate for such charges.
    • Should you be a selected candidate you undertake to expeditiously do all things necessary to enable the promoters to comply with their obligations under the CPA.
    • Diageo PEM reserves the right to vary, postpone, suspend, or cancel the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason which Diageo PEM reasonably deems necessary. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms of the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaigns and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the promoters, their advertising agencies, advisors, suppliers and nominated agents.
    • In the event of a dispute, the decision by Diageo PEM is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • If the candidate fails to comply with any of these rules or the terms of acceptance of the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign, or if they refuse to sign the Diageo PEM Top 30 declaration or the Diageo PEM acceptance form, this will be construed as a rejection of their candidacy and then, without prejudice to any other remedy which Diageo PEM and its associates may have, the selected candidate will be automatically disqualified.
    • By entering this Keep Walking Africa Top 30 2023 campaign, you accept and give Diageo PEM the right to send you promotional content in the form of competitions and the like. You have the right to opt out of receiving promotional content by contacting us on the below contact details or utilising the OPT out link or SMS number where applicable.
    • You further accept and give Diageo PEM the right to transfer, where applicable, your personal information:
General Conditions

  1. By participating in the Challenge, participants grant Diageo South Africa the right to use their name and/or their images on television on the radio, in the written press, Out Of Home, digital and social media. Participants will not be entitled to any form of compensation for the republication or use of their name and/or their images and shall indemnify Diageo South Africa its employees, agents and associated companies against any claim, loss and damage to third parties that may result from the use of these messages, names and/or images.
  2. Data Privacy - Personal data that you provide or that is obtained by the Promoter in accordance with the Keep Walking Africa Top 30 and your participation, including, without limitation, your name, telephone number, email address, nationality and address, will be processed and are necessary to manage your participation in the Keep Walking Africa Top 30. You hereby consent to the use of your personal data for the purposes of the Keep Walking Africa Top 30
  3. to any of its third parties for the purpose of processing the information which shall accord with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPI); and
    • outside of South Africa, such transfer shall conform with the provisions of POPI.
    • The laws of South Africa govern these terms and conditions and participants agree to be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
